God Is Our Refuge and Strength

You need the Psalms. The Psalms are the Bible’s devotional heart. Martin Luther called them ‘a little Bible,’ and theologian Geerhardus Vos said they uniquely express ‘what we think and feel in our hearts.’ For this reason, Christians must ‘endeavor to cultivate diligently the devotional spirit of the psalmists.’ That is the aim of this book. Through brief, practical expositions of all 150 psalms, this volume proclaims, explains, and applies each one in light of the New Testament and the finished work of Jesus Christ the Lord. These reflections are designed to enlighten the mind, warm the heart, strengthen the hands, point to the Savior, and encourage the soul. Use this book devotionally. Use it prayerfully. And may you find yourself in the Psalms—and more importantly, by God’s grace, find that in Christ, God is your refuge and strength.
